From product strategy to product branding amd from innovative interface solutions to narrative development; I love helping people conceptualize, organize, and solidify ideas. Ideas are cheap; great ideas are rare, and being able to transform great ideas into great things is the holy grail.

For over five years, I led Arkadium's weekly creative Brainstorm. Dedicating time to innovation is crucial for any company that wants to take its business to a higher level. To me, brainstorming doesn't necessarily mean standing in front of a whiteboard and letting the loudest voices yell out a never-ending stream of ideavomit; brainstorming means "coming up with usable ideas" and there are lots of effective ways to do that. Each situation needs to be approached differently, depending on the specifics of the problem and the team working on it.

Another method of ideation that I helped run at Arkadium was the "Development Jam". At a conference in Kiev in 2009, two co-workers and I got together and took random prompts from the audience to create a game in 24 hours. It was the first time we had ever heard of a "game jam." It was such a successful experience that from that time forward, we made Development Jams a biannual Arkadium tradition.

During Development Jams, we would break up into teams and either create a new piece of software or just dedicate time to thinking of new solutions to old company problems. So many great ideas came out of these sessions: new product prototypes, new admin tools, new accounting methods, and even new HR solutions such as how to best implement a company snack bar.
